No! Not the Buttons! Not My Gumdrop Buttons!

"Kiss and make up" or "Miss and cake up", you decide...

Good morning! I figured I'd better post something now, while I have the chance, since I didn't get one yesterday. I guess I'll call this Part One...

Sunday was a good one - great weather, wife in a happy mood, no cactus dreams for Maggie... what more could one ask for? Haven't seen much of Eldest Daughter since we got here... she's been hanging out with Cousin the whole time, which is fine, since it turns out there isn't much room for her either at Grandma's house or at the base housing we're at...

We went to Cousin's soccer game yesterday, which is always interesting. As I've said before, I don't claim to know much about soccer, but it's fun to watch nonetheless. The officiating was questionable. I told myself if I happened by the head ref after the game, I'd tell him what a lousy, inconsistent job he did (even though "our team" won the game), but I wussed out. He walked right by me, and I lost my nerve. I figured, maybe it's more difficult to ref from the field than it is watch comfortably from the sidelines...

Wifey's quest while we're out here is to eat at all the places here in Albuquerque that we can't eat in San Diego. It's a strange mix of great local restaurants and odd fast food places. I'm just along for the ride, so it doesn't matter much to me. It all ultimately ends up in the same place, so who cares, right? That's part of my code. Well, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules...

Maggie can't get over the fact that the stop lights here are all "tipped over". Back home, all the stop lights are vertical - red on top, yellow middle, green on the bottom. Out here, they are horizontal, going red, yellow & green left to right. It's funny to watch her brain short circuit every time she sees one...

Funny Picture Time:

I'd be petrified that pushing on that rock, even a little bit, would cause it to topple onto me, squishing me like a bug. Wonder where that picture was taken at? Pretty cool.

I thought that Abbie got the last movie quote in Saturday's big post, but there was actually another that snuck through, so I get 2 points. The line "got the ol' cruise control set at 35" came from the movie Revenge of the Nerds. Yet another movie that is far better in remembrance years after the fact than actually watching it. Funny the way that works with some films. Fond distant memories are far better than fresh, cold reality.

Here's a video of a frustrated toddler who can't quite figure out how to kick a ball.

Sorry, I know it's not right to laugh at a little kid like that, but I can't help it. It's funny. Here's a direct link if the video doesn't show up for you for some reason...

We have to get up crazy early Wednesday morning in order to attend Cousin's graduation at 9 am. Takes about 45 minutes to get to the facility, and well, you know how long it takes a family full of women to get ready! One of the benefits of being male, I suppose. A quick shower, drag a comb over my head, grab whatever clothes are handy, deodorant if I remember, and I'm out the door. Up and out in minutes. I also save a fortune on clothing, make up, shoes, "feminine products," movie tickets to chick flicks, and therapy. Just how obscene an amount of cash are we talking about here? Profane or really offensive?

I'm trying to talk the wife into going to see Star Trek this week. I'll let you know how that goes, since I'm sure you're dying to read my review of it, right? Right?

I'm going to end this for the moment. The day is young, however, so if I get a chance, I'll hop on later and add more. Until then, I grow tired of asking this so it will be the last time: where is the rebel base!?

Part Two: Abort! Abort!

I was going to post more today, but I have a killer headache and I'm just not feelin' it. Gonna call it a day. Congrats on identifying all of the movie quotes, y'all. Talk to you tomorrow.
