It Was Silly of us to Look for Qualities in Each Other that We Never Had

What an odd day today... a lot happened, and yet I didn't do anything or go anywhere...

Eldest Daughter went with a friend to Six Flags Magic Mountain today, and returned with great stories and memories, which is cool. They had fun trying to describe the roller coasters they rode, and which were their favorites, and I finally got the bright idea to dredge up some riders'-perspective videos of the coasters on YouTube, which we watched.

Here were their favorites:

De Ja Vu

Tatsu

and X2

I don't think I could take any of those, actually. I used to ride the coasters with the best of them, but last time I went (about a decade ago, actually), they kicked my butt. I stuck to the benches and the mellow, log-ride type rides after that. What can I say... I'm old...

My biggest concern was making sure they got home safely - I made Eldest Daughter promise they'd leave the park at 8pm, whether they felt fine or not. That's about 2.5 to 3 hours of driving there, and the same back again... add 8 hours of getting cooked in the sun while waiting in line for rides between the drives, and it makes for a very long day. I've told the story in this blog before about nodding off while driving home from a Six Flags trip back when I was Eldest Daughter's age, so you can understand why I'd freak out a bit.

The rest of the Wagner Women hit up the Wild Animal Park today, making use of some free tickets they had to use before they expired. They had a blast, as usual, except they were hounded by bees today at the park for some reason. They came back with some nice pictures, though...

So where was I while all the ladies were having fun? Home. A little work, a little play, a little reading, a little nap... and a big sandwich. And everyone is now home safely, sleeping or darn close, and I'm blogging, as if I had good sense...

I do have some odds and ends to add here before I sign off. Joseph sent me a link to an upcoming Lucas Arts game called Lucidity that looks interesting. I've never been too high on platformers, but this one has a cool art style and may be worth trying out for that alone...

Plus, I found this cool video that's hard to explain... someone took a simple Bach canon and overlaid it onto a moebius strip, and then has it play backwards and forwards simultaneously, and it's pretty enchanting, actually...

I have more stuff, including another funny wedding video, but I'll save it... there's such a thing as too many videos in one post! I've passed the limit, I think...

Still reading the Talisman... interesting that so many people commented on it yesterday... I think I'm going to finish it before launching into Mistborn.

Church day tomorrow! I'll be sure to tell Jesus you all said hello... Until then, remember, when we were kids, all we ever talked about was being cops.

PS Paula updated her blog! Yay!

The art in the Lucasarts game looks pretty cool, indeed. To me it looks like a DS game. And the Canon was interesting, too. Thanks for the videos.

Been about a decade since I last rode a coaster. I used to love them. Oh well...I'm sure I'll get brave again sometime. Those pov videos were very cool. I turned the sound off though...too many screaming females. :D

The animal pics were great...I love animal places.

Hmm...interesting graphics in that game. I'm not very good at those though.

So, Dave...I'm curious: What exactly are you searching for when you find all these odd things? I love the Bach thing, btw.

I strongly dislike roller coasters or anything high, actually. Always have, and imagine that wont change.

Great animal park pics, and thanks for the plug! :)

Havah: I just float around, and follow links, and see what I see... in other words, I benefit from the browsing efforts of others, and then share the best of the results...

Joseph for President!

Okay before I go google this one I'm going to try and guess- Lethal Weapon?

Nope, I guess I was wrong and it's - Pride and Glory (awesome movie, though!)
