I Will Not Fear the Tens of Thousands Drawn Up Against Me on Every Side. (Psalm 3:6)

So I'm kinda stuck again on the whole "active/reactive" thing, as far as personal motivation... I know we all will be held accountable for what we do, and I keep seeing how my actions during all my waking minutes are really reactions. I seem to lack ambition and/or self-motivation, and I think the reasons why are many. Oh, don't get me wrong, I will routinely "accomplish" many things, but really, when I trace back the impetus for the accomplishment, it rarely, if ever, simply stems from something I chose (after contemplation/prayer/etc) to do on my own, but rather I'm reacting against some external impulse.

Left to my own, I veg. I don't know how to jump-start my self-motivation. I know I could accomplish so much more than I do if I was more of a go-getter. The rug shop website is a prime example. Man, if I was motivated, I could so grab that site and run with it... I could turn it into something that would set me (and mom) up for a long time... instead, I hiccup and stop/start/lurch, etc... and that's true with many facets of my life.

Bah, enough introspection. Always happens after mid-week prayer meeting-thingy at Stan's house...

Here's a couple guys that decided to strap rockets to their Christmas tree and launch it...

Jayson sent me some (all?) of the pics he took at the New Year's LAN party, so I can now prove to you all that I was actually there...

There, see? I was there! No photoshopping at all! Well, actually, I did use Photoshop to enhance the size of my biceps, but that's all...

There's Vye's good-luck action figure. It worked. He annihilated us at Warcraft 3 again...

Great picture of Yanni (the Spartan) and Vye (the Conqueror). Yanni's just a bit blurry, but that makes him look other-worldly and ethereal, like an angel sent down from Heaven to our LAN party to complain about his malfunctioning laptop...

That's Bernadette on the right. She cooked all the awesome food for us. Jemimah was there, on a video conference call to her folks in the Philippines. I got to say hello to Benny and Connie myself, actually...

Lumpia! Yummay yummay yummay!

Did I spell "lumpia" correctly? O_o

This next link is for Joseph... it is a blog called "Nic Cage as Everyone", and the blog admin posts photoshopped pics of Nic Cage's face on just about everything and everyone...

Some of the pics are quite good, others... not so good... still, it's a fun site. Check it out if your name is Joseph. Or if you are feeling particularly Joseph-esque...

Well, stuff to do, places to go, people to see...  all of it a reaction to outside stimulus no doubt... that's the way I roll...

By the way, still making progress on the novel. I hope to post something soon...

Dave

Beautiful people with beautiful names! I'd never heard of a "LAN" party before your blog, see how you enlighten us?

Happy to hear you're still making progress on the novel, looking forward to the snippet.

No way?! What a crazy random happenstance. I happened upon Nic Cage as Everyone earlier this week thanks to my Google Reader suggestions. And I agree. It's hit or miss, but the hits are usually great. I really liked the Gandalf one.

Rockets bring back memories...

Yeah Paula, me as well. I've been to just about every kind of party, but I've never had the pleasure of a LAN party.

I'm a very solitary gamer. It's usually me and my game pad.

My girlfriend’s brother does online gaming. When I was at her mothers at Christmas, I could hear him shouting abuse at somebody at four in the morning! He also met his girlfriend (she’s from Washington) through online gaming.

I prefer to meet potential mates by plying myself with alcohol and becoming funnier than your average Marky. Funny dancing also comes into the equation. I change a mean light bulb, and I’ve also got the fastest jazz hands in Scotland.

Oh, and I can’t wait to read your stuff. I hope I don’t miss that blog entry!

LOVE IT.

You know how you see something and think, "I wish I had thought of that." Needless to say I will spend a lot of time on that site.

I only bring it up because it's you. You're the rocket man.
