Sometimes We Don't Pick the Books We Read, They Pick Us.

Dude! That was *exactly* what I was thinking too! That is so weird! Yeah, what you were just thinking right now, before you clicked the button to come here and read my blog! Yeah, that! I was thinking that too! That is soooo cool! I mean, what are the odds that we'd both be thinking the exact some thing like that!

Hmm? Oh, yeah... I'm a mindreader... so?

Well, gee, pardon me, Dr. Paranoia! It's just mind reading... what's the big deal! I just thought it was cool that we were both thinking about running to the gas station mini-mart wearing nothing but Burmudas and flip flops and asking the mouth-breather behind the counter if he has, like, a really huge bag of Cheetos, in that annoying fake surfer voice that we do all the time... I mean, it's cool we were both thinking that, that's all..

Hmm? You weren't thinking that? Well, see, there you go. You're all paranoid for nothing then. Now can you let me get to the blog post or what?

Sheesh! You people... I tried to take it back, but it was too late!

Anyway, the week hath ended. Yes, I went into the rug shop, and yes I worked on the web site, and yes, we're getting a surprising number of visitors, but the real question is, why can't our rug shop be in a building like this?

From what I read about it in this article, it's a building design for a university in Mexico, and it will be built and occupied a floor at a time, around a 6 story tall central column. Kinda cool, I think. The article has a dizzying amount of pictures and drawings and blueprints if you want to take a quick scroll. Pretty cool, I think.

Anyway, if the Rug Shop was in a giant building like it, it would be, like, cool or something. Yeah. I'm feeling very articulate tonight... yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand...

Run! Run for your lives! Hollywood is bombarding us with more and more sequels! I can't take it anymore! Now there's going to be another Kill Bill movie! Of course, Michael Bay says there will be a third Transformers film coming out in Summer 2011... I have a suspicion that the best word to describe that film also rhymes with "third"... Here's a hilarious video clip someone made, in reference to Michael Bay...

That... is hilarious. Now to me, that's biscuits and gravy. It's one of those things you see and wish you'd been the creator of. Clever and funny. Nuff said.

I dumped an entire cup full to the brim with Monster Energy Drink and ice on my lap and the floor today at work, before I'd even taken the first sip. Probably God's way of reminding me I said I'd try and give up caffeine... could have been infinitely worse... a couple degrees starboard and I would have drenched my MacBook Pro instead... speaking of the MacBook Pro, I finally got around to installing anti-virus software on the Windows partition today (I've had it since October of 2007, mind you). Installed Bulldog Antivirus, ran the scan. No biggie, only 171 positives... :O AAAAA!!!! Well, what did I think I'd find? Windows Security is like a seive. O well, live and learn... Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don't fail us now!

And now, today's Gutbuster of the Day, from This Is Why You're Fat...

Behold, The Widowmaker: One and a half pounds of ground beef, 1 package of bacon, 1 package of Italian sausage, 1 box of Hot Pockets, 1/2 package of fried onion strips, all between two Tombstone pepperoni pizzas, topped with Velveeta cheese and marinara sauce.

O... M... G... And the thing is half gone. I'm curious about some of the other things in the pic... is that tobasco sauce in the background? What beverage was in that giant empty liquids container? How many college roommates can that feed?

OK, I'm not thinking about it anymore... a temptation resisted is a true measure of character.

Looks like I made yesterday's Quote Contest theme a little too obscure. In case you were curious, the theme was Lord of the Rings. If you look at the cast list in the films I pulled quotes from, each film contains an actor that was part of the Fellowship. Just trying to ratchet up the challenge a bit... bah, you wouldn't know talent if it looked you in the face!

Odds and Ends: I got my prize in the mail today - the book I won in that Fiction Addict giveaway that I mented previously: Lost Mission, by Athol Dickson. Of all the psuedonyms to pick... sheesh! I also got email notice that the Looking for Calvin & Hobbes book I ordered from Amazon won't be released now until mid November at the soonest. Drat! Check out my frowny face now! :( Ah, well... good things come to those who wait... I'm a huge C&H fan, can't wait to learn more about the creator...

Official Blog Lurker Joseph just sent me a link to a video clip that blew me away. I'm not going to embed it here, but I will link to it. Don't go there and watch it unless you are feeling strong and intrepid and confident today, otherwise it will shake you too hard. It's a 9 minute video clip taken from a helmet cam of a skier that gets caught in an avalanche, and buried, and he's under snow for four and a half minutes while his friends race to him and dig him out. All I can say is, I haven't felt tightness in my chest watching a video like that since the "buried alive" scene from Kill Bill... and this one is real. He survived, but man o man, what that must do to a person... even just watching the video, I'm glad to be alive... dang... that's where I want to live the rest of my life. A warm place with no memory...

INTENSE

Well, there's only one way to follow up a "kick to the stomach" video clip like that, and it's also how I'm going to end todays post... and that is, with vintage live footage of Neil Diamond, circa 1971, singing I Am I Said! Neil, take us out!

Until tomorrow, remember, only three days left... plenty of time to read my Bible and look for a loophole...

There at the beginning, Dave, you almost sounded like a high-school school girl…LOL! “Like Oh. My. Gods., no you didn’t” LOL! It was pretty funny, because that’s how I was reading it…

Hey Bob, I loved the new Star Trek movie! It was awesome and thanks for the info! Dave it was a great song, loved it!

Oh, and YUCK! I don't know how they could even eat that...

Okay since Bob took the best and easiest quotes of the day, I'll have to up my game! LOL! Let’s see what I can find...

"That’s where I want to live the rest of my life. A warm place with no memory..."--The Shawshank Redemption-- good movie.

"you wouldn't know talent if it looked you in the face!"--Escape from Alcatraz-- Great movie! You know, not that it's a good thing, but my Grandpa was in Alcatraz at one point in his life... I'll have to ask my dad again who he was in a cell by but it was someone (bad) well known, I believe.

Anyway, let us see if I can find one more...

"a temptation resisted is a true measure of character-- Papillon-- never seen or heard of it...

All the best, Dave!

Watched the movie about Hitler's secretary. Disturbing on many levels. A shocking reminder of how frail we humans can be. Was genuinely relieved at the end of the film when she said she was finally able to start forgiving herself.

15 points for Krista. BOOM! Like that!

So, you won't be having The Widowmaker for, like, supper tonight then? :O

Yeah, that film was pretty hardcore, Ann. Still not quite sure how to feel about it...

Well, if you're not gonna leave your name, I'm gonna have to just call you Ann! :P

Awesome! I went through a self-delusional period where I thought that I was Neil Diamond. Now, I just appreciate him and his music. He's the man. The MAN.

Calvin & Hobbes, eh? A new book? Oh, a biography. Hmm. I, too, love(d) Calvin & Hobbes. I own all of the books, but I really want the big nice hardbound books. Sweet.

The Michael Bay thing was funny.
