Okay, Ask Me Something You Think I Would Normally Lie About...

Greetings! Wait, what day is it again?

Uh oh, I'm floating again... drifting, drifting... in life, in work, in my spiritual life, in my marriage, in my blog... hang on, I need to do something to ground myself again... I know! Another zombie reference! Let's see what I have in my bag of tricks...

Ah, yes, the zombie wedding cake...

I bet I know what they served at the reception.... braaaaaains!....

OK, good, got my sea legs back again. Now, where was I?

Ah, yes. Rug Shop Day today. Didn't get as much done today as I'd hoped; perhaps Friday will prove more productive. Not that it was completely unproductive, mind you... I mean, I got some printing done, made a butt-load more rug design bookmarks, snapped some pics, and prepped another rug book review for the website... I'm not a complete slacker! I just play one on TV....

Of course, I got yogurt on the way home, but I can't go into that now... some things are just too personal, too pure... too pure for the natural impurities of the law...

Here's an awesome website to browse when you have no qualms about losing several precious hours... this is that good process turkey...

It's called Atlas Obscura and it's a combination travel blog + Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum + trivia site, that seems to be collecting all the odd locations in the world. If you're planning a trip anywhere in the world, you can go here and get a list (with articles/pics/videos) on all the off-the-beaten-path things to see and do. They even have Google Maps set up, with markers that you can click to see sites that are near each other, to help with planning. I don't plan on taking a trip any time soon, but I do love a good browse session. Some cool stuff to see.

Here's the skinniest house in Boston...

... Only 10 feet wide and 30 feet deep, 4 stories tall... it has an interesting story behind it, if you're curious. You can't handle the truth!

Here's a swimming hole on the Zambia River, right at the lip of Victoria Falls...

"During the dry season, when the Zambia River is at its lowest, a natural rock ledge at the very lip of Victoria Falls creates the world's highest and most dangerous infinity pool. Adventuresome swimmers can wade through the enclosed patch of water known as the "Devil's Swimming Pool" to the precipice of the 100 meter falls and look down on the gorge below."

Dang. 300 foot drop. Pardon me, but don't you ever sweat? Not sure I could do it. More pics and videos about it HERE.

Also, I found the page on Catherine de Medici's Chamber of Secrets to be particularly interesting... listen, no matter what she says to you, don't answer her back.

OK, Funny Video Time...

As you can tell, I have very little of substance to say today. That usually means fiction, or randomness... I can't get my brain to do fiction at the moment, so randomness it is. That theological venting is still burbling somewhere in my lower intestine, so it's not ready to make an appearance yet. Still no word on the Christmas Script, but I expect that will be hitting the fan here pretty soon. I did make more notes on my NaNoWriMo novel, so I have that going for me... but again, the more I ponder it, the more I want to add to it, which lowers the completion odds, I think... somebody needs to stop me!

Here's a blog I found recently (through Blog of Note) that some of you might also like. She's a great writer - that always clicks with me...

It's called Nat the Fat Rat, and if you like goofy, well-written, amusing, observational writing, give it a look.

Hey, Logan, the blog Fantasy Book Critic stole your idea and reviewed Star Wars: Death Troopers. You should sue! The reviewer wasn't too kind to it, saying the idea was super cool, but it didn't live up to it's potential at all (similar, he says, to Aliens vs Predator). For those unfamiliar with the book, it's a Star Wars Zombie Story! Here is the Fantasy Book Critic review, but I'm going to wait for Logan's review for the final word. I'd wait for Joseph's review, but he doesn't have a blog! That's ok, I suppose... Joe, I'm putting you in my book as well... Joe rocks. He's the only man I know who can strut sitting down...

Rounding out today's Daily Dose of Oddness, here is the Gutbuster of the Day, from This Is Why You're Fat...

Redneck Quiche: Eggs inside individual bologna cups, topped with mayo and velveeta cheese. Mmmmm! Serve me up some o' dat! I, myself, would take it and run like a thief!

Guess that's that. It's over... I don't want us to end enemies. Until tomorrow, I ask you: What is it in us that seeks the truth? Is it our minds or is it our hearts?

Hey, and I think I know the theme without looking it up! All these movies are books! Am I right? If not, Bob, I better get that email ;)LOL! And, hey, you have a wonderful "afternoon", Bob!!

That Zombie cake is awesome! I wonder what their wedding looked like :)

That house is tiny, and cute...

What? People actually have the guts to do that! No way! That's just insane!

That Pixar video was funny...LOL!

I went and read one of Nat The Fat Rats posts and she is pretty funny, I'll have to follow....

I'm gonna wait for Logan’s Review... I trust his judgment :)

Oh, I really hate Bologna and even more so now, yuck!

if you're right about the theme then that makes you... lagging only 1 point behind me!!! :DDD

You could cut the tension with a knife!

There is an easy way to comment on your posts, and a hard way. I could go in order of paragraphs, commenting as I see fit, which actually makes the most common sense. Or I could just mix up everything, actual spelling and syntax, and give you a big pile of nonsense that would require immense luck and tremendous amounts of guesswork. Or, I could pick and choose and be short and sweet.

Zombie Cake = AWESOME
STAR WARS review = meh
Little House = Zoinks!
Nat the Fat Rat = Promising

Oh, and I didn't think his STAR WARS review was that critical. His only real problem was that it could have been better, which isn't necessarily saying it was bad. Thanks for everything, Dave.

Man, getting a late start today, lemme see...

15 points for Emperor Bob, good show.

15 points for Krista, nicely done. Sorry, you missed the theme. Give it another go! You have to beat Bob... because the second place prize is Bologna...

Logan: Short and sweet works peachy. And I'll still wait to hear what you say about the Star Wars book... bump it up on your reading list already!

15 points for Crystal! Good job...

5 points for Abbie! Good work...

Krista said...

Man, whata about they're all lawyer movies...?

Hey, that was funny because all my titles really were books... :)

David Wagner said...

Yep, the theme was Courtroom Movies... 10 points! And a virtual tie! That 1 point may make a difference after all! Guess I should put more foreign movie, so I can give 6 points per quote instead of 5 again...

w00t! w00t! :)

Do you feel the pressure, Krista??? I mean, there's a lot at stake here, you know... you've been training all your life for this moment...and if it passes you by.. I'm just saying, you know :PPP

(i love mindgames, don't you?) :D

Krista said...

Do you feel the pressure, Bob, cause I'm not the one with the dave-free weekend coming up...?(cue the highly insane laughter) MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

(Where's the fun if you don't have mindgames, eh? :)

Thanks for the tips on how to remove myself as my own follower (HA)! Sounds conceited, sill don't know how I got on there, which demonstrates my complete lack of technological abilities. Someone like me talking to you about computer graphics is akin to Stephen Hawkins explaining astrophysics to Jessica Simpson. Your site looks great, well organized and of course graphically pleasing to the eye and I like the content. You can see how simple mine is, but I guess it's just about reading books. I'll take your suggestion of "Lord of The Flies". Thanks, Kris

Okay, that photo at the beginning is just stunning. I thought it was beautiful. Love the zombie cake! That would make for a great Halloween lovers wedding. lol.

The little house... It reminds me of the Little house from Stuart Little the movie. That is where they should have lived. A little high, a little low. lol. Okay, yes I watch a lot of kid movies (with my child).

Great day!

Bob said...

true story...

and for the record: if there was any butt-kicking involved today i'd be the one doing it ;) don't worry.. i'd be gentle ;)

Krista said...

Yeah, I just seen that when I checked my facebook stuff... That sucks, sorry Dave!

You may have been gentle, but me "NOT!" LOL! ;) I was planning on pulverizing you! :DDD

Bob said...

violence is not the answer, my young padawan :D

Krista said...

LOL! So we have another Star Wars fan, eh?

Heh, you gotta learn from the best to pulverize the best... :)

I've just had my very own gutbuster at lunch. It was pakora and chips smothered in spicy sauce. I feel really ill, and it won't be long before the turtle head starts poking out too.

Not good, not good at all.

Hmm...going to ponder that title a bit and get back to you, Dave ;)

Love the Atlas Obscura website. I've been to at least one of the places on there...and there are two others close by. Now I can better plan my future travels! :)

That swimming hole is awesome. Oh, to be so brave again! Maybe one day. :)

Oh, I'm such a sap. I felt so sorry for the Pixar light. :( *lol*

Loved Nat the Fat Rat blog...I'm going to keep my eye on it. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry about last night's blog. I could hear you screaming all the way over here! o_O

Dave, you should strongly consider using Windows Live Writer. It's eliminated most of my problems from posting, and it's super easy, too!

And anything's better than the Blogger editor...

Marky, your comment had me choking at my desk.

Krista & Bob, it looks like a bloodbath for quotes may be coming up. Yikes.

Abbie said...

dang...over 30 comments dave!! is that a new record?

David Wagner said...

I think I've hit thirty once or twice before... if it isn't the record, it's close...
