It's so Horrible to See Your Own Confusion and Understand it.

Ah, drifting, drifting... no direction... nowhere to start this post, no direction to take it in once it gets started... neither a clue nor a care... the tang of autumn fills the clear still air, but it's mild and fine... in other words, business as usual! Shall we proceed?

Rug Shop Day today, which meant gathering info to post on the Rug Care Central website, and taking care of little rug-related odds and ends... Yes, rugs! You heard me right! What, can't a guy like oriental rugs around here? Some of those things are pretty flippin' cool! I can like them if I want to, so there! >:O BUUURP!!!

Great, now see what you made me do? I transformed into The Angry Burper. That's never good.

Hey, that reminds me of the Angry Burper T-shirt I made that one time... lemme go track it down, brb...

Ah, yeah... I really should make some of those up and sell them on my Wagnervana site... classic. You'd each buy one, right? Right?

Hey, that reminds me; I haven't watched the latest Daily Show and Colbert Report on Hulu yet! Score! Thanks for reminding me...

Here's a slow-motion video of bullet impacts which I found thoroughly fascinating...

No, I'm not really a gun nut, though I am pro-gun. If I was anti-gun, I wouldn't post this picture, would I...

All I want for Christmas is a .50 cal machine gun... but please, don't deliver the rounds one at a time like that...I'll have to spackle the walls again... We're tremendously ignorant about what makes people tick...

I've finally discovered the coolest thing about Facebook... and that is, their new headquarters in San Francisco.

You gotta love a place that allows their employees to tool around the place on a skateboard... they also make gourmet meals and other snacks and drinks available gratis round the clock. I'm all about the snacks. Must be a killer place to work (no offense, mom...). You can click this link if you want to see a bunch more pics, and get more info...

There's also an article on dezeen about a cool new line of modular office furniture announced by a company called Pearson Lloyd for Vienna Design Week... I'll post one pic here, but you really should go take a quick peek at the pics available over there... some of the stuff is awesome, in my humble estimation...

Love clean, sharp lines and block colors like that... I'd love to paint the walls of my house (especially my office) each a different solid color, and get cool furniture like that. I'm sure it would help me write my novel!

By the way, I'm developing an outline for the novel I'm going to write for NaNoWriMo starting November 1. I'm assembling a cast of characters as well. It's going to be fantasy, I believe, and serve as a long, thorough prologue for the Fantasy Series I want to write, called The Council of Six, which I think I've told some of you about. I'm filling the tale with people I know. I'm even going to make myself a character! How self-centered is that! It should be fun, I've given it a lot of thought, and will continue to do so.

Krista left a comment yesterday about a favorite author of hers that is having a book signing in San Diego on November 2nd. I told her I'd go get a signed book for her and send it to her. But I checked the list of other upcoming signings, and Brandon Sanderson is also going to be there in November, to sign the new Wheel of Time book! I'll definitely go to that one on the 15th. I'm sure the rules will limit his signing to only the Wheel of Time book - I'd love to have him sign a copy of Hero of Ages, and put it up on my shelf next to my signed Gates of Fire. We'll see... I've never been into celebrity worship or autograph collecting - I mean, they're just people, like us, and all that... still, I'd love to shake his hand, tell him how much I enjoyed his Mistborn series, and support him a bit. Besides, then I can sell the signed Wheel of Time book to Logan for big bucks... man, Logan, I am gonna soak you big time! Better break out your checkbook! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!! The world is a den of thieves and night is falling!

You can check out the list of upcoming author signings and see if you know any of these cats. If you're out of state and really want a signed book, let me know and I'll see what I can do... beware of good deeds. They cost far too much and leave a nasty smell...

Here's something funny I found earlier today while web lurking... there's a semi-famous video-bomber over in Portugal called Emplastro who specializes in interrupting live on-the-spot newscasts by appearing over the shoulder of the reporter, or the interviewee, as he/she talks. I have no clue how he knows where these reporters seem to be all the time, but there are many, many videos on YouTube of this guy, and I find it ridiculously amusing, even though I can't understand a word of it.

He even gets a special mention in the Photobomb Hall of Fame. You really should check out some of the videos of him they have posted over there - they're a riot. In some of them, he gets smacked and pushed away, but he keeps smiling that goofy grin and moving back into the frame.

Todayve In History: October 15
--------------------------------------
- October 15, 1878: The Edison Electric Light Company begins operation. (I call out to Him in the darkness. But it's as if no one was there.)

- October 15, 1937: Hemingway's novel "To Have & Have Not" is published. (I've yet to decide: to read or read not?)

- October 15, 1938: The District of Columbia formally adopts a design for its flag. (It has a lobbyist with full pockets on it...)

- October 15, 1951: I Love Lucy debuts on TV. (...I have a habit of recalling scenes from childhood to calm me...)

- October 15, 1989: Wayne Gretzky becomes the all-time leading points scorer in the NHL. (A little power is so painful, but it lets him scale the mountains.)

Still no decision on the community blog idea... got mixed feedback and not much interest expressed. I still think if it's done right, it could be very cool. I'm just not sure what "done right" would mean in this case...

And now, ladies and gentlemen, my tank is empty. I shall carry this memory carefully in my hands as if it were a bowl brimful of fresh milk! Until tomorrow, remember, your theory is very interesting and appears to be justified.

That shirt is funny! Would I buy it, though? ;)

That's the coolest Santa I've ever seen! :D

Dang, I wish my place of work looked like that! It's awesome!

OMG, you'll really go get a signed copy for me? How cool! My copy of Canticle should be here any day and I could send it to you? I have never been big on that sort of thing either except when it comes to my favorite authors *Shrug* Not that there this all mighty person it's just I have enjoyed there work immensely... Plus, I have talked with Ken many times (not in person); he is a very nice guy. He joins in on our book discussions of his books, as well as comments back when you leave a comment on his blog :)

Logan and I will be fighting over that Signed Sanderson book! Heck, I'll just read Sanderson’s installments (I might just do that anyway)! LOL! :D

That guy in that video kind of scares me....

Oh, I love I love Lucy!

Hey, I'm all for a community blog :) You should start a test community blog and see how it goes....

Have a blessed Day!

I never get tired of watching slow motion bullet impacts. Ever watched that show on the Discovery channel called Time Warp? (I think that's what it's called.) It's where people film things at an incredibly slow-motioned pace and you can observe it. Pretty cool stuff...

Y'know, I'd be willing to pay, but I think I'd much rather have a signed Mistborn book instead. But I'm strongly considering WoT reading soon.

Krista's got a good thought for the community blog: a beta site. We can test it out for a month or so and see how we like it (and see whether or not we actually post frequently enough).

Time zones, Krista, time zones... i usually start work when Dave posts and (eventually) goes to sleep :)

18 points for Krista! You don't have to send me your book, I'll grab you one and send it to you, my gift. Heck, I may give it a quick read before sending it off to you... is it a sequel or a stand-alone title?

Logan: I've caught an episode or two, I think. Usually, I don't watch television programming unless I can find it online somewhere to watch. I'll have to nose around and see if I can find it.

The idea of the beta site is good - but I'm still up in the air about a theme/name... my original concept didn't quite sit right with everyone...

12 points for Crystal!

By the way, I gave an extra point per quote if the title was listed as the Swedish name... would have done the same for Bob too! Sorry Bob. I didn't know how to announce that rule without rendering it moot...

I've contemplated choosing another time to post every day, but the 10pm to midnight slot is just the perfect time. My day is over, so I can cover what happened... my browsing is over, so I can share what I've found of interest... it's just the perfect end-of-the-day activity... I've tried doing it during the day, but it just doesn't feel right... guess I could try it again...

Oh, cool!:)Thank you!
Lamentation is the first book and Canticle- the one he's signing- is his 2nd book in, I think, a six book series.

He is a short story writer and Lamentation (366 pgs.) was his first novel. Now Canticle...

I would highly recommend trying his Lamentation and the hardcover is a bargain book for $4.68 on Barnes and Nobles right now, too. Anyway, Ken Scholes is an amazing author. His ability to create relatable characters and world build without bogging down the story is amazing!

By the way, I was only kidding around with Bob you don't by any means need to rearrange your post time unless you want to.... Just fun 2nd place (but not too far behind, Bob!) banter LOL! :D

The author of dlwagner.blogspot.com has written an excellent article. You have made your point and there is not much to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not argue with: You can open your heart to someone who has never told you they have a secret. Thanks for the info.
