Swirling Down the Random Drain of Randomness...

Greetings to my legion of adoring fans and vocal detractors!

A quick note to my vocal detractors... you have the word "tractor" in your title! BUAHAHAHAHA!!!! You're lame... maybe you'll go away if I write you a John Deere letter, eh?

Oh, come on, that's funny. A little bit, anyway. Yeah, I'm clever like that. I did another On-The-Road Anagram the other day... I was behind a PT Cruiser at a stop light (on the way to church, ironically), and was able to anagramize the letters into "scripture". That has to be my tops, thus far. Before that, I had turned "Chevrolet" into "tech lover", and thought I was all that.

Things to do in traffic...

And now, for today's edition of "OMG How Many Hours Did They Have To Practice That!?" we have two German chicks doing balancing tricks on bicycle(s)... (saw this on Bits and Pieces)

I guess it was too much to hope for the world to go low-key with the announcement of killing Bin Laden. I'm glad the guy is finally gone, but I think the non-stop coverage and in-the-streets celebrations will unnecessarily antagonize an already violence-prone, self-righteous sub-group of people. It's almost comical to watch the transition from tsunami to royal wedding to bin laden death... we're weird, ain't we? Kind of hard to keep perspective sometimes, eh?

And now, for today's edition of "Every-day Items Filmed In Super-Slow Motion". Today's episode? Jello cubes!... this is cool, watch it full screen, eh!

So, I'm about 60% through A Feast for Crows, and I'm sorry, it's just flat out a boring book. Such a stark contrast (pardon the pun) to the other books. It basically consists of talking, traveling and tedium. And a bunch of new hard-to-remember characters. In one instance, a new character is developed (in his own POV chapter, no less) and then unceremoniously killed off in an almost nonsensical way. I just don't get it! After the blistering action and plot twists that characterized the first three volumes, the action dries up and the remainder becomes a slog. I'll certainly finish it off, don't get me wrong. Perhaps that's why the fifth volume (A Dance with Dragons) has been so long in coming (6 years!). Maybe GRRM was able to honestly evaluate Feast and rethink his plans for Dance.

We shall see!

Something must be up... the time between books went waaaay up... check out the release dates...

A Game of Thrones: 1996
A Clash of Kings: 1998
A Storm of Swords: 2000
A Feast for Crows: 2005
A Dance with Dragons: 2011

And really, Feast was only half a book. Something must be up. Maybe he's lost the love...

And now for today's episode of Zombie-Proof Homes and Gardens, we have this gem.

Talk about paranoid! Gives new meaning to the phrase "closing up the house for the evening"...

I've been captivated by my Irish screen saver again lately. It has some pictures of the Cliffs of Moher that blow me away. I'd like to go there someday. Of course, I wouldn't go right up to the edge, but I'd get pretty close. Must be something to gaze out at the sea from atop those towering cliffs...

Snagged that one from Google Images... the Irish Edition. Called O'Google...

OK, I made that up...

And now, for today's edition of "Dog's Trying To Get Close to New Babies", we have this little clip...

Go Fluffy Go!

Remember that time I had nothing left to say? Remember? Yeah, that was a long time ago...

"Stark" contrast.... hahahahahahah.

Feast definitely was a let down, but still salvageable, I thought. I do recall disliking all the new characters (Iron Islands or whatever stuff), though I did think the Drowned Priest guy was kinda cool, or at least the idea cool.

Logan: Yeah, Feast has some redeeming qualities, but the difference between it and the other books is startling to me. If memory serves, I believe GRRM spent some time writing Feast from a point 5 years after the end of Storm, but was spending too much time in flashbacks to catch events up, so he scrapped it and wrote it so it began right after Storm ended. By then, he had a couple years in, and perhaps he just panicked, who knows...

We'll see what he's been able to do with Dance after 6 years... hopefully, he has things straightened up some...

Paula: Live on a cliff like that? Only if you don't sleepwalk!

Hey! I've BEEN to those cliffs! Darin crawled out to the very edge, determined to look over the side, and all I could think of when he was doing it was... "OMG, he has the car keys..."

Thankfully he did not plummet off the edge - that was before cell phones, I would have been up a creek.
